Sleepy Tushy's Diaper

What I love about doing a WAHM month is being able to meet a lot of great Moms! Today I am featuring Jessica, the owner of Squooshy Tushy Diapers. Here is a little bit about her and Squooshy Tushy.

-When did you start sewing your own diapers and selling them?- I started sewing diapers about 2yrs ago just for my son. I decided to start selling them last year in Nov. when I was pregnant with my daughter. I started off selling car seat canopies and got so many request for diapers that I decided to give it a try.
-What inspired you to start sewing?- My aunt taught me how to sew one summer and I have been sewing on and off since. I did most of it by hand. I would sew blankets for family and dog beds. The diapers I started just to see if I could and once I had them down there was no stopping. I would see fabric and start thinking of how cute it would be on a baby butt lol.
-How did you decide on the design of your diapers? My first diapers were just a old diaper I traced and modified in the areas I needed. Made the middle more narrow (never understood why some diapers are so wide in the middle), made the tummy panel a little wider, etc. As I kept going I would just modify to what fitted my child best. Now I have came up with a design I love. Everyone has been doing the square tabs so I decided to go with rounded just for a different look. My old design is still requested by some since it is a great fit for chunky legged babies :). The Sleepy Tushy was designed due to my heavy wetter son. He would leak through almost anything I would try on him. I took the 3 most absorbent materials, without being bulky and came up with Sleepy Tushy. I wanted something that would be breathable, and something I would feel comfortable leaving on for 13hrs. Bamboo was the best option with all the great benefits. This diaper also gives the option of being able to use a wool/fleece cover for that extra layer of protection if really needed. I am so excited that this diaper has worked out better than I ever thought.
-Where are you located and where can we find you online? - I live in Vancouver, WA and currently only have my business going on Facebook. I will soon have a site set up on Hynecart also. You can also contact me through email squooshytushys{at}yahoo{dot}com
-Anything else you would like to share?- Cloth has been absolutely awesome and way easier than I ever would have thought. I really regret not starting sooner. Once you make the switch you will love it!!!
Squooshy Tushy Diapers recently came out with a new diaper called the Sleepy Tushy. They are made with blizzard fleece outer, a hidden layer of zorb, organic bamboo velour inner. The Sleepy Tushy diaper comes with three inserts that are made of 2 layers of organic bamboo and 1 layer of hemp. One of the inserts is a snap in insert and the other two lay in.

Above shows the Sleepy Tushy with the two lay in soakers.

The diaper is made with a very soft fleece.

There is a single row of snaps across the waist and three rise snaps. The wings also feature a cross over option.

Inside the diaper a double soaker snaps into the cover.
With all three inserts that come with this diaper it is pretty thick.

Trying to get a picture of the diaper on my son was a trick in itself. Here is a backside angle.
And a rump shot.

And in this one he was trying to stand on his head.
Our experience with the Sleepy Tushy has been great so far. We have used this quite a few times at night and we haven't had any leak issues. We don't put a cover over top of it and it is pretty drenched on the inside come morning time but nothing wet outside which is great. The fit on my 2 1/2 year old is great. We don't use the rise snaps on this and the wings are open a little bit. There is probably a tiny bit of room left in it for growing but I cross my fingers that this little dude decides he wants to use the potty soon!
We have only used the diaper at this point with the snap in soaker and have not added in the extra soakers. I have had a little bit of trouble getting the snaps across the  waist to snap and stay snapped. It might be because he will not hold still  for nothing while I'm trying to get his diaper on but I'm not sure. The fit seems good to me though and they don't pop open once he is wearing the diaper. Just while I am trying to get it on him.  I have not used the Sleepy Tushy diaper on my 7 month old yet, mainly because we really need night time options for Zeke and this works so we use it for him but also because I think at this point with Micah being a little bit smaller it might be a little bit thick on him to be able to move around.

Sleepy Tushy is offering to give away a diaper to a lucky reader. The winner will be able to pick out the fabric from the in-stock album and it will be custom made for them!
