Tiny Owl Market is a fantastic online resource for purchasing eco-friendly items for yourself, your children and your home! Started by Nissa in November 2011 (Thanksgiving Night, to be exact!), Tiny Owl has quickly taken flight! You can click here to read all about Nissa and Tiny Owl, but in summary, she started Tiny Owl to be a one-stop-eco-friendly shop for all things green around your home, whether you cloth diaper or not.

Tiny Owl Market has such a wide variety of items available, so I asked Nissa how she decided on which products to use:

When I first opened, everything in my store was there because I had used, loved and trusted items from that particular maker, and I felt good about sharing them with my customers. As I grow, I can't tell you how much I value customer input when it comes to bringing in new products. It's essential. When I get a recommendation for something I have never used, and it appears to be a good fit for the store and my customers, I order some products to personally test. And make my decision from there. Cloth diapers are a little different. I am pretty well immersed in the cloth diapering world and know what's out there, so I am more than willing to bring in diapers I haven't tried myself first (though I have tried many!). I do however add a couple to my initial order from that vendor to use on my youngest child so that if I customer has a question about that particular diaper, I can draw from personal experience if necessary.

Comfy Bummy - Review & Giveaway

Welcome to Comfy Bummy - a super cute and super resourceful store nestled in downtown Naperville, IL! I was really excited to have an "excuse" to visit Comfy Bummy! It's a cute little store that is big on customer service. All of the staff that I have worked with have been very friendly and very knowledgeable!

The store itself is adorable! There are all sorts of nooks and crannies in which to find unique products for moms and babies. They carry everything needed to successfully cloth diaper your baby, as well as boutique gift items for mom and baby. Babywearing items? They have them! Swaddling products? You bet! Everything is well organized! Check out these laundry items - how cute is it that they are all together on shelves with "laundry" written above them? I love all of the thought and details shown throughout the store!

Another neat thing at Comfy Bummy are all of the handwritten signs seen throughout the store. They advertise the prices of the products and the classes/events that are upcoming. Comfy Bummy currently offers a Cloth Diapering 101 class, a Daddy Diapering class, and a Mommy Cafe that meets once a month.

They have various events that take place, like this one:

It's a Diaper Swap with a Natural Parenting Panel where you can ask real people real questions! Check it out on their Facebook page for more info! Jen (the marketing manager) talked so passionately about all of the different classes they are going to offer once they relocate to a larger location: mom and baby yoga, babywearing, baby sign language, nutrition classes, and the list goes on! It wasn't too hard to get excited about it with Jen's enthusiasm! =) At Comfy Bummy they are all about educating EVERYONE on the benefits of natural living.

One really practical feature that they have on hand is their baby model. They have a basket full of diapers that you can touch, investigate, and try on the baby. I LOVE this idea - it's so helpful!

One of their favorite diapers are the Thirsties Duo Diapers. Here they are all neat and organized:

Comfy Bummy was gracious enough to give me a Thirsties Duo Diaper to review! I don't have many girly colors, so I was all over the Orchid color. I don't have many aplix (velcro) closures for my diapers either...I generally trust the longevity of snaps more. However, I've been looking to expand my velcro stash to better suit babysitters and other caregivers (daddy and grandma to be exact).

One of the neatest things about this is that I put the Thirsties Duo Diaper into our rotation without telling my husband that it was there. He changed our daughter one morning and I was thrilled to see her cute, new, purple diaper peeking out the back of her jeans! =) Daddy didn't even need any instructions on this one! Better yet, when you do have a sitter and have them just leave the diaper on the pail for you to take care of (hours later...), you don't have to smell the stink of unstuffing the diaper the next day - just attach the laundry tabs and throw it in the wash (unless of course, you have any poop to rinse off first...) - the inserts agitate out on their own!

I confess I have one small complaint...maybe "concern" is a better word. Sometimes this happens:

I'm always afraid that it will cause a leak if the inside part is not tucked in (by another caregiver) but so far - no issues! My daughter can go quite a while in this diaper before needing it changed. Jen from Comfy Bummy says her son can go all night in it - that sure is a "thirsty" insert! A couple of other great features: wide pocket openings make for easy stuffing, the two sized system truly allows the little babies AND the bigger toddlers to use them, and the colors and prints are great!

Ecobuns Store Feature

I would like to welcome everyone to my own home town cloth diapering store, ECOBUNS! Ecobuns was started about 2 1/2 years ago out of a lady's home. Last year she moved out of her home into a store front. She quickly was starting to grow out of her store front and was also looking at selling out of the business for personal reasons. Then enters Candis, the new owner of Ecobuns. Candis and her husband have 3 daughters and also own a local bakery. Candis and her family purchased Ecobuns and moved to a new location that was much larger and would house their store just perfectly. I love having the opportunity to have a local CD store to go to and visit. I am a big time fan of seeing and feeling before buying a diaper. The pictures online at the manufactures sites never to a diaper justice and its hard to tell if its something you would want to use or not. Anyways...Welcome to:

The Ecobuns Store Front
The store front is located in our towns outlet center. When you first step into the store you see this.

To the right is a section for baby wearing as well as wet bags.To the left is the 'check out' area of the store as well as a rack of other misc items.

Here is a rack I always check out while at Ecobuns. Their cloth wipes. These are by far my favorite wipes and they are only 1.50 each.

Just past the wall when you come into the store you find this beautiful sight. Shelves full of cloth diapers.

On this wall there is a wire clothes line that has wool items and nursing covers hanging on it. I think this is a cute little touch to the store. There is also a side room (right side of the picture) where CD classes take place. This is also a handy dandy play room for your kiddos when you stop in to the store.

I love the large shelved just packed with tons of fluffy goodness.

Like I have been saying, having a cloth diaper store local to me is so awesome. I would honestly say I probably wouldn't be cloth diapering if it wasn't for Ecobuns. SmartMomma Store Feature

My family lives near the thriving city of Raleigh, NC. When I entered the cloth diapering world, I thought, "There's bound to be so many places to shop for cloth diapers around here..." Four years later, I've found less than a handful! However, there is one store that I frequent and love - SmartMomma. I spoke with store owner, Heather Burns, over the phone one afternoon (thanks to crazy, busy schedules, then sick children, we just couldn't work out meeting up, unfortunately!) and she was so incredibly sweet and funny. I loved that I could hear the love of her store just oozing in her voice!SmartMomma carries a wide variety of boutique clothing and oodles upon oodles of diaper bags in every print and size imaginable!

My first question for her was, "When did you open SmartMomma, and why?" She told me that while she was pregnant with her first child, she was always researching, looking for the best information she could get on products. She started SmartMomma as an informational website, linking to retail sites. It occurred to her that she could be selling these products - so she started doing that, out of her child's closet! There was so much she wanted to sell and Raleigh was seriously lacking in stores that offered these items, so in 2008 she opened a boutique, and quickly ran out of space. In the summer of 2010, she moved into her larger current store, located at 8601-A Glenwood Ave. in Raleigh.SmartMomma also carries a wide selection of baby, toddler and children's toys! This mama may or may not get caught playing with them when she visits! :)

She has a variety of methods for choosing what products to sell. She starts with items that excite her as a parent, things she likes and ones that make sense. She said, "I just trust my instincts." She said she does go with customer feedback, "If enough people ask for something, I will carry it."If you're in the market for strollers in the Wake Co., NC area, SmartMomma is the place to go!
Car seats galore!

Her top sellers are furniture and baby gear. However, cloth diapering is getting noticed in the area. When the store opened, she had a single shelf of cloth diapering items. This shelf has now grown to a full isle! She confessed that she did not feel educated enough to cloth diaper her older children (she did start part time when her youngest was about 2 years old), but intends on fully cloth diapering her newest addition in a few months!I asked her what has been her most enjoyable moment since opening SmartMomma. I could hear her grinning over the phone! She went on to say that a few days after opening their newest location, she was closing the store and was there alone. She just looked around at all her hard work (she, herself, designed the layout and setup of the store) and was just so excited. She said, "It's been very successful. I'm very lucky!"So many cribs and furniture pieces to choose from!

SmartMomma hosts a variety of classes in-store, from pre-natal classes to those for toddlers! Some classes cost a small fee, while others are free, and range from pilates, breastfeeding, labor and childbirth, to cloth diapering basics, infant CPR and baby sign language...and anything in between!

SmartMomma was also a local host site for The Great Cloth Diaper Change earlier this year. I attended and it was fantastic time - great hosts, a very fun atmosphere and, of course, adorable babies everywhere!Do you see someone who looks familiar?! :)

When I was shopping late last year for a new baby carrier, I stopped in and received excellent service, specifically with help trying on carriers and getting all my questions answered. I have been back a number of times and had nothing but great experiences!SmartMomma before they opened in their new location. The front of the store is all glass making for some amazing, refreshing natural light to flood the store!

Fluff Envy Store Feature

Hello all! I'm really excited to show off a brand new brick and mortar store...Fluff Envy! Until October 1st, Fluff Envy had only been an online store (with local mamas having the option to pick up at Justine's house). Now, their brick and mortar store is officially open! They are located in South Elgin, IL - right on Route 31 (1345 N La Fox Street). From the beginning of the online store, it was Justine's dream to open up a storefront where her kiddos could play in a back room while she worked in the front - and this is now their reality (with the play room being on the side)! Her girls are so excited to be there that they brought over their play cash register, browsed the store for their favorites, and then rang each other up - how cute! =)

Justine did a great job of making the store bright, cheery, and spacious. She wanted the online store and the storefront to match in color and theme - she succeeded! Somehow my pictures missed the hand painted bubble-like detail at the top - but you can tell she put a lot of thought and effort into the store's appearance. A playroom is in the works for the little ones who accompany their parents to the store.

There are two walls (and several other smaller areas as well) covered in colorful fluff - enough to make any cloth diapering mama envious! =) In addition to diapers, Fluff Envy carries inserts, BabyLegs, wet bags, baby carriers, natural mama products, natural lotions and the like...just to name a few. Fluff Envy is also a great resource - offering classes to those that are local. They currently have a Cloth Diapering 101 class on the 3rd Saturday of the month at 3:00 pm. A couple of other classes are in the works as well - Baby Wearing and Baby Yoga should be starting up in the near future - stay tuned for details. Sandbox Lane Feature with Sweet Pea OS Cover Review

A couple months ago, I happened upon a great little online shop, called Sandbox Lane. What I didn't know at the time was that they were brand new to the online world, having just opened up shop this year (2011)! They offer a variety of baby clothing, cloth diapers and accessories, mom items, feeding items, swaddlers, toys and baby yoga mats! You can also check here for specials and here for any new products they may have. I love that Sandbox Lane is committed to only selling products they "stand behind and would suggest to...friends and family." When I hear that about a company, I feel better buying from them. Sandbox Lane has very affordable prices on great eco-friendly products as well.

I was able to review one of their products. The OS Cover from Sweet Pea. This cover has quickly become one of our favorites! One of the first things I noticed when the cover arrived was the extra snaps on the waist for those super skinny babies. I think this is one of the main reasons we have loved this cover so much. While our youngest has some serious thighs, his waist is so itty bitty.
The other reason I love this diaper so much is the gussets. Gussets, if you don't know, help hold in all the mess.
My first reaction was, "Look at all that guss!" It is some serious "gusset-age" :) We've yet to have any thing leak out of this diaper. It is our go-to for time away from home and night time (we have started using a PUL cover with a wool or fleece cover as a backup, or extra layer of protection, as our youngest is a super soaker).

A hook for hanging to air dry!

I wasn't 100% certain that was what it was for (of course, no idea what else it could be for!) and Linda from Sandbox Lane confirmed, "Yes...a little thing but quite useful!" And it really is! Diapers take up less room on the drying rang (or shelf, hehe) allowing for more items to dry.

We absolutely love this cover. While my husband is 110% on board with cloth diapering, he doesn't often suggest we buy more diapers. But this is one he has suggested we purchase more of. And at $10.95 a pop, you can't beat this deal! A great one size fit, amazing leak protection, adorable colors and a great price!

CSN Review

I just found out I get to do a review with CSN Stores. So what have I been doing...scouring all the many sites trying to decide what I would like to review! They have some really fun products and some other ones that would come in handy like their flat screen TV stands, which would be nice because we just recently got a flat screen and my son likes to mess around with it! Or should I try out their baby Kicks cloth diaper? Plus they have a lot of neat eco friendly toys and organic items as well...what to pick, what to pick... any suggestions?

Today I would like to share a little about Maria from My Simple Baby! I asked her a few questions and this is what she shared...

What is your cloth diapering experience? Tried cloth diapering my first born but I had to go back to work to soon and it was difficult to continue, but with my second I got everything I needed since I was pregnant and my son is now 9 months and I love being able to use cloth diapers on him.

What was the reason behind you wanting to start up a cloth diapering store? Well for me it all started with the birth of my first child. I wanted to used safer products like glass intead of plastic, using natural and organic skin care products, basically going back to basics and it was dificult to find these products and knowing that other moms were also interested in using safer and better products for our kids and the enviroment.

What kind of products do you offer besides diapers? Natural and organic skin care, stainless steel dishes, bamboo utensils, natural art supplies, organic crib mattresses, wooden toys and more.

Do you offer any programs/classes for parents? (ex. Cloth diaper classes, baby wearing ect.) We are in the process of getting a cloth diaper workshop running in a community center and midwafery offices http://www.mysimplebaby.ca/

Diaper Daisy

I got in contact with Katie from Diaper Daisy and wanted to know more about her and her story. She was more than happy to tell us about herself as well as her back ground with cloth diapering.

What kind of experience do you have with cloth diapering?

I had experience with Cloth diapers before I even had my first child. I was a nanny for a family who used Rumparooz so that was my first exposure to cloth. Believe it or not even though I had seen and used cloth it was not something I really thought about using with my own. Shortly after I had my son he began to exhibit signs of chemical burns from sposies. I was quick to find a solution and turned straight to cloth after a friend suggested it. I have been a Cloth-a-holic ever since!

What is the name of your store and where is it located at? My store is called Diaper Daisy. We are essentially located all of the USA because we are online but our home location is in the beautiful rocky mountains of Colorado.

How long has your store been open? Diaper Daisy has been in business since 2006. It has switched owners a few times but has kept its great customer service and products through any changes.

What was the reason behind you wanting to start up a cloth diapering store? When I first started in cloth there were little to no resources in my area. I had to drive 20+ miles to the nearest eco baby store. Since I am a true advocate to cloth I wanted to be able to share the joy of cloth diapers in my area and with the rest of the world.

What kind of products do you offer besides diapers? Well we have organic baby products like Lusa Organics wipe juice (the best wipe juice ever!). We also have leg warmers, burp cloths, nursing covers, wet bags, and a very cool diaper bag + baby carrier combo called the Kemby carrier. You have to check that one out!

Do you offer any programs/classes for parents? Yes, we offer cloth diapering classes at 2 locations in Colorado. The Nourish Family Center in Highlands Ranch and Belly Bliss in Cherry Creek. We hope to offer online classes via Skype in the very near future. We also offer consultations and support to any of our customers whenever they need it. We are in the process of mixing some Cloth Diapering parties for local families as well.

If I had to choose a favorite right now (its changes weekly I think) I would say SoftBums but Nifty Nappy fitteds with a Wool cover are a very close second.

Ecobuns Store Front Grand Opening!

Ecobuns is having their Grand Opening!
