I need to preface this post by saying I personally have not used a woven wrap, however, there is oodles upon oodles of information to be found on the internet. One reliable place to find this information is Piece of Cloth. Here, many questions regarding woven wraps are answered. Also, you can search on YouTube for many tutorials on how to do various carries. Another great resource for learning carries is your local babywearing group.
What I can tell you is that woven wraps (or non-stretch wraps) are very versatile. While it does take some practice to get the various carries down, if you own a wrap, pretty much anyone caring for baby can use it - front, back or hip, you can easily breastfeed in one and it is fairly compact to transport (no buckles or clips, just a long piece of fabric). You can carry any child, newborn to toddler, in a woven wrap as well. Woven wraps also come in a variety of lengths.
