Happy Birthday!

We recently Celebrated my sons 1st birthday (April 23rd). I had so much fun planning his party which was a construction themed party. Needless to say we has caution tape and trucks EVERYWHERE! I thought I would share a little look into our party!

I wanted to get a little creative with the food and decorations. So one day while playing out side I noticed my son playing with this long orange construction scene sand mold. I thought that was to cute and matched the party perfectly so I searched everywhere and found the rest of the pieces to the set. After a few good scrub downs and washings they were ready to go...so I thought. I noticed that on the trucks in the center of the tires there were holes. I was planning on turning these into Jello Molds and the holes wouldn't work. I decided to bust out my hot glue gun and filled the holes in on the outside and it worked wonders!
I sprayed each mold and then followed the directions on the box of jello and went to work. The green bulldozer mold was kind of a problem because I broke the big blade off the front of it while trying to get it out. Other wise they worked great. I wasn't sure how to display them either and tried a couple different things and finally decided that making a scene with them would be fun. I had a little extra yellow left over so I poured that in a bowl and made a sun!
Next up was decorations. I wanted to go all out but not spend a ton of money so I looked around and thought well duh! We have trucks all over our house that I am constantly tripping over, why not put them to use at the party and so I did. I did end up borrowing my nephews big green John Deere dump truck which ended up being filled with ham sandwiches. I had a blue tool box that we put condiments in and spoons as well. The forks went into DS's cement truck. Some of our trucks are out side play trucks and kind of dirty and rusty so those trucks I just put a bowl inside with the food in it. That way it would be easier to clean later on as well as clean to serve the food in. We had ham sandwiches, beans, purple fluff, WORMS IN DIRT (I thought appropriate) pickles, olives, jello and chips.
My husband found a roll of CAUTION tape in his parents basement so we took that and covered the tables with it. My mom also found some orange cones at the dollar store and those added a nice touch to the table as well.
And then there is the cake! My Mother-In-Law makes cakes (more for fun than anything else) So I asked her if she could to a dump truck one for Ezekiel and she did a great job! I matched our invitations and theme perfectly. She found the cake pan at Hobby Lobby. I then also got some small Ice Cream Cakes that were so good! And then the cute little smash cake was topped with a candle and matchbox dump truck. I had the cute little construction hat at home and so I bought that along for the table.

Here are the invitations I made for the party. I also made Crayon Rolls for the kids as a party favor.
