Moraki Cloth Diapers AI2/Pocket

Recently I was contacted by a company called Moraki. I was asked to review their AI2/Pocket diaper. Typically when I hear a diaper being called different things  like and AI2 and a pocket diaper I tend to be leery because, well, lets face it do they every really work that great as both? I checked the Moraki diaper out online and thought they looked pretty nice and decided to give them a try. I received this super cute Christmas Elephant print for my boys to use.

This Moraki diaper should fit 7-40 pounds.

 The diaper features two rows of snaps across the waist as well as 4 diaperdifferent rows of snaps for rise adjustment. It also has extra hip snaps to help keep it  from getting wing  droop.

 So why is this diaper considered an AI2/pocket diaper?  When you open the diaper you notice nice soft fleece and a flap across the front of the diaper. In the middle of the diaper the fleece is split open. In order to use this diaper as an AI2 all you need to do it lay the insert on top of the fleece and you can tuck the insert under the flap on the front of the diaper to help keep the insert for getting the babys clothes wet. If you would like to use the diaper as a pocket diaper you just take the insert and stuff it down into the  front, turn the diaper and then stuff in the back then close up the fleece pocket.

 The inserts are made in a loop form to help keep drying time down to a minimum.

 

There are three different sizes of inserts. Which you can use according to what size rise setting you have the diaper set to. However I use them all for the same baby. :)

 Here is the diaper on Micah, my 6 month old who weighs 18 pounds. I have it on the second rise setting and have to snaps open across the waist. The fit is great on him. I have also used this diaper on my 2 1/2 year old who is around 35  pounds and had the rise open all the way with about 4 of the waist snaps open. There is still plenty of room for him to grow, I probably could have had the rise snapped down just one for him to and that would have worked as well.

 

 The diaper is trim as are the inserts.

 

How did I like this diaper? Over all I really liked it. My son really isn't fond of having wet diaper against him so using this as and AI2 on him wasn't the most fun for him but we didn't have any leaking issues while using it as an AI2. I did three AI2 uses in a row and the cover stayed nice and clean and did not get smelly at all from being used over and over which is great. While using the diaper as a pocket we also had success. Micah was much happier using it as a pocket diaper rather than an AI2 because it offered him is favorite stay dry feel with the  soft fleece it has lining the inside of the diaper.

For fit we were able to get it nice and snug with the snaps on it. We have yet to leak though this diaper. I don't think I have used it as a night time option but I think it would work great because the inserts are really nice and absorbent plus you can stuff what ever you need absorbancy wise inside the pocket or if your child doesn't get bothered with the wet feeling you can just place inside what you need and use it as an AI2.

My hesitancy to try out a diaper that is considered an AI2/Pocket diaper has now gone away as this diaper really worked great for us while being used as both styles. If your looking for this style diaper Moraki is a great option plus they have different cute prints to choose from as well.

The Ragababe AIO diapers are pretty neat. They come in aplix only and are sized. I have two newborn Ragababes and love their prints. I honestly wasn't sure these diapers would fit our baby but they actually have a great fit on him. The front of this diaper has a hidden pocket opening so if you want to stuff extra inserts into it that option is available. Other than that this is a pretty simple and easy to use diaper.

 Here is the Ragababe Newborn diaper on Micah at around 9 pounds. It was a great fit and we slightly use the star cross over aplix tabs.

 The legs also have a great fit with no gaps around his skinny thighs.

How did this diaper work for us?
Great! I was really happy with how the diaper fits on Micah because I really didn't think it would fit him at all! I had heard that the newborns run small and most people typically skip the newborn size and go to smalls but I am glad I have a couple of the newborn ones. I do have a size small and it does gap around his legs causing leaks. This diaper can hold a good amount of pee. We have used it at night for a 4 hour stretch with no issues. Its nice and trim and I like that with the waist strip of aplix we don't have rubbing issues. Sometimes diapers with aplix will roll down and rub on the babys tummy leaving a red irritation from it but this diaper doesn't do that. It also fit great under his cord stump which was nice because the was able to wear it sooner.

LaLaBye Baby

 I recently was contacted by Melissa, the mama behind LaLaBye Baby cloth diapers. She asked if I would be interested in reviewing one of her diapers for her. After checking out her website I agreed to a review. While browsing her site and checking out her products I realized that not only is her name a nursery song but all the names of her diapers are as well which is really cute! I was able to pick out which color and I chose Three Blind Mice (because I don't have any grey diapers!).


Here is the 'Three Blind Mice' diaper I received in the mail. I love the color and its uniqueness to my stash. So cute!

 

The diaper is a one size cloth diaper with 4 rise options, newborn, small, medium and large. It also features cross over snaps for the tiny newborns as well as hip snaps to prevent wing drooping. All of which are great features to have on a diaper.

 The diaper comes with two inserts, a small and large. The inserts are compatible and can snap together, or be used separate, depending on the needs of your child. The inserts are made out of bamboo and are very soft and really trim.

 When I first opened my fluffy mail I loved the color and though it was great. Very simple and plan but I really liked it. Then I opened up the waist snaps and was blown away by the rainbow of colors across the front of the diaper. They were beautiful! My husband thought I was a little  crazy with my reaction. :) The colors are not your typical rainbow colors but nice unique colors. I am not sure if the snaps are different on other colored diapers or not but this is so much fun!

 Well what kind of diaper is this anyways? This is a cool diaper because its a two in one kind of deal. You can use the diaper as a pocket diaper and stuff the insert in either end because it has two openings, also known as a 'sleeve' style diaper where the insert will agitate out on its own in the wash so no un-stuffing wet inserts. SCORE! I hate touching wet inserts. If your not a pocket fan then you can...

 ...use this diaper as an AI2 diaper! There is a flap over the front of the diaper to tuck the insert under to help hold it in place and you can also snap it into the front of the diaper with the snap on the insert into a snap that is inside the opening of the pocket.

 Here is the diaper in use on my 5 month old. He is around 17 pounds when this picture was taken. I have it set on the small snap setting for him and on the waist I leave just the white snaps open.

 The diaper looks puffy in the picture but it is really a nice trim diaper. (the elastic marks on his leg were from a different brand of diaper)

Now the fun part: My thoughts on this diaper...

There are a lot of things I really enjoy about this diaper. The snaps are all great, I always like having the hip snaps on diapers as well as cross over snaps for tiny babies. The 4 rise snaps make this diaper  fit a wider range of babies as well. The fit on Micah was great every time. We actually had to use this diaper for the first time as a night time diaper which I tend to avoid with new diapers not knowing how they will preform. I placed both inserts in the pocket and used the diaper for about 12 hours over night with out a single leak. However I would never be able to do that with our 2 1/2 year old because he pees though EVERYTHING which is getting  old real quick. For daytime use I have also been very please. No leak issues with the diaper being used as an ai2 or a pocket diaper which is nice.

Micah seems to really like having a stay dry diaper on him so using this as an AI2 isn't the greatest option for him because as soon as he pees, he fusses and wants to be changed so using the diaper as a pocket is much more our style. We have used it a few times in a row with the AI2 and it did work with out any leaks.

One thing that I would change about this diaper is the pocket opening in the back of the diaper. It is really small and I have bigger hands (thanks to my lovely dutch heritage) so I don't like stuffing it though that  hole but the hole in the front of the diaper is nice and big and very easy to stuff inserts into.

I would recommend this diaper to people. Why? Because I  really think this is a great diaper. We have had total success with this diaper, no issues at all. I think the price is great for a pocket, the quality is great as well.

When I first got it I was pretty blown away by the number of snaps on this cover. They are everywhere. It took me some looking and playing around to figure out what everything all goes to but it all makes sense. This cover features a adjustable rise, an umbilical cord snap down, and a snap in liner.The snap in liner is so soft. It has a nice fleece on the top that goes against baby's bottom and the bottom of the insert has what I believe is a layer of PUL for extra waterproof protection!

Here is the size 1 Oeko PoPo diaper on Micah around 9 pounds. I have the rise set to the smallest setting and you can see there is one set of snaps on the waist snaps that we left open. So this diaper can close pretty tight. You can also purchase it with optional cross over snaps.






The legs have a great fit on Micah with no gaps or openings in it to allow leaks. 

 How did this diaper work for us?
This AI2 system works great for us. I love the fit and that you can use the cover over again. The whale print is very cute. The legs are really neat how they are made with an extra piece of material to help prevent leaks. We haven't had leak issues with this diaper at all. The insert that came with the cover can hold quite a bit of pee and I love that the back of the insert has a backing of PUL for extra protection against leaks.

How does this diaper work for us?
At first this diaper didn't work for us. It was really just to big for him and wouldn't work while he had the cord on. After his cord fell off I put the diaper on him again to try out and see how the fit would work and it had a great fit around the waist but the legs had a gap opening on them which caused leaking. I didn't want to give up on these diapers (I had 8 in my stash) so I waited about a week more and now they fit Micah great. He is 9.12 pounds at three weeks old and these diapers now fit him great. We don't have leg gaps on them anymore and we have had to move the waist snaps so there is one open snap in the middle. I don't know how these would possibly work for a 4 pound baby, but for my 9.12 pound little guy they fit great and he as room to grow in them as well. They have a great selection of colors as well for these.
