Humphrey's Swift Strips

We have been avid teething tablet users since our oldest son first had the tale-tell signs of those first baby teething breaking through. Depending on where we were shopping, the coupon we had and the specials being run, we would buy Hyland's, Humphrey's or the store brand. All seemed to work equally as well for our older boys - instant relief!

As my youngest has started the teething journey, we have found that the pellets or tablets we had used previously weren't doing the job for him. My mom purchased a box of teething tablets for us she found on sale and they had a couple samples of teething swift strips made by Humphrey's. As a mom eager to take away the pain in a safe, natural way, I was all for trying these new strips, but for whatever reason, I kept putting it off.

Well, Monday night, we lost power at our house. I walked my screaming, gnawing, drooling baby around by candlelight, who was totally unhappy with any carrier I tried and only wanted me to hold him upright and super tight. Then and there, I knew I had to get some teething relief in his system. As my husband was calming the fears of our older two, I was left trying to figure out how to dispense the tiny tablets one handed...in the dark! I then remembered the teething strips. I felt my way around the kitchen counter, trying to remember where I had seen the sample pack last. Success! I opened the thin package and said out loud, "IT'S EMPTY!" I couldn't see anything by the candle light. I hit a button on my phone for some more light and found the nearly clear strip sitting inside the package.
I put it inside Caedmon's mouth, and no joke, within 30 seconds, the strip had dissolved, he was calm, looking at me with his goofy grin, and eye lids starting to get heavy. I sat in my favorite chair and began to rock and sing to him. He continued to make lovey eyes at me for about 2 minutes and then drifted off to dreamland.

He took an amazing, early evening snooze and was so happy the rest of the evening (until chow time - no teething strip can fix that!)

Not wanting to wake the snoozing baby who fought so hard for sleep, my husband and I were texting each other from across the room while waiting for the power to come back on about the success of these strips. The consensus: we WILL be buying more Humphrey's Teething Swift Strips. ASAP!

My mom found these Teething Swift Strips at Walgreens, but I also saw them available on amazon.com and just about any online drugstore.

Humphrey's Teething Swift Strips are Lactose, Sugar, Aspirin and Ibuprofen Free as well as 100% all natural.

They are called "Swift Strips" for a reason: not only do they dissolve quickly, they get to work just as fast!

Disclaimer: I was not in any way paid for this review. The samples of Humphrey's Teething Swift Strips were included inside a box of Teething Pellets purchased by my awesome mommy. :) All opinions are my own, and you may have a different experience. Please discuss any medication with your child's medical care provider.

Why Every Mom Needs...

a Hand Vacuum!
CAUGHT!
Eli loves to scoop, load, dump, pour etc. everything! When he couldn't find anything to put into his train wagon he went to the cupboard and pulled out the salt (the only thing in there that he could open).

Dinosaur Train Review and Little One Books

I found a great site called Little One Books. This site sells all kinds of awesome childrens products, mainly books, music and movies. But the cool thing about Little One Books is that they categorize everything by a recommended age for each product. A lot of times while looking for books for my children I sometimes wonder if its at a level that they will be able to appreciate and enjoy. With Little One Books they help you figure that out by giving an age recommendation for each product. AWESOME! The categories go from birth up to age 5, hence the "Little Ones" in the name. The store was created by grandparents and each and every product is used and 'tested' before being sold by their expert team. I love to hear when companies actually use the products they sell. So I had the opportunity to an item from their store to review for you. This was such a hard decision. They have so many great products. I thought about "The Best Mouse Cookie" which they recommend for 2 year old's. It is based on the book series "If you give a mouse a cookie." Which we LOVE to read. As I kept looking I found the DVD Dinosaur Train: Dinosaurs in the Snow. This is recommended for children age 3 and up and my son isn't quite yet 2 1/2 but I really wanted to get this. We watch PBS at home and the Dinosaur Train is one of our favorites.
I personally love the fun songs and music that the show has as well as all the great learning it provides. My son loves trying to say the names of the different dinosaurs and we learn lots of neat facts from this video. One reason I picked this was because if featured snow. We are in the middle of winter so I thought it would be fun. There is also a episode on this DVD about coniferous trees and why they don't loose their needles but all the other trees loose their leaves.

I know some people don't allow their younger children to watch much tv or any at all but I don't mind letting my son watch a show or two a day. It helps me get some things done, like write up some blog posts (hehe). And the shows we do watch are all educational shows, we love PBS!

Here is a little about the Dinosaur Train taken from Little One Books
Dinosaur Train embraces and celebrates the fascination that preschoolers have with both dinosaurs and trains while sparking an interest in life science, natural history, and paleontology. The show encourages children to compare the characteristics of ancient animals with those that are alive today. As they explore a variety of interesting animals past and present, children develop the inquiry skills and core knowledge needed to help them think, talk and act like scientists.

Bamboobies: Review

Bamboobies Logo text only

I admit when I heard the name "Bamboobies", I giggled like a middle schooler. But, when I read about Bamboobies, I was pretty amazed!

The quote right in the middle of the home page had me: "Like a cashmere sweater for my boobies..." SOLD!

I loved the "better, better, better" info on their home page as well:
*Better for You:
-super-soft velour soothes chafed nipples
-anti-microbial bamboo may help prevent breast infection**
-bamboo and hemp fabric absorb more than 4x more milk than cotton

*Better Design
-ultra-thin fabrics show less through shirts
-milk-proof: waterproof backing prevents milk stains
-not wrinkly or crinkly like disposables

*Better for the Planet
-bamboo, organic cotton, and hemp fabrics are sustainable and fair trade
-washable pads means no more waste

I received 2 pair of Bamboobies - the regular pair and an overnight pair. They came wrapped in minimal packaging, and my first thoughts were about how incredibly soft they were!

OK, and how cute is the heart shape? I mean, I am boy mom all the way, but small feminine touches are great, especially when they serve a purpose. Bamboobies are heart shape designed to cup the breast better and the dip allows the sides to cup without wrinkling.

I have loved trying out these nursing pads. The regular Bamboobies are super thin. I was very worried that it would be almost too thin to wear in public, but they have performed like a dream every time! During my first nursing session of each day, I use the overnight Bamboobie on the opposite side and it has yet to leak on me. While I love the overnight for that purpose, it's a tad too bulky to wear under a nursing tank out in public (but have used it with a nursing bra with no problem).

These nursing pads are phenomenal and I would highly recommend them, especially to new moms! I can't wait until my next time nursing a newborn when I can really try out these nursing pads (in other words, you think these are nice now, 'ladies', just you wait til the next go 'round!)

**I never had any infections with my first two children, but I have had mastitis twice since Caedmon was born. When I read that these could potentially help with infections I was so excited. There have been a number of times that I felt like I was catching mastitis again, so in addition to my more water, more rest, less 'constriction' and garlic regimen, I would solely wear these nursing pads. I can gladly say that I have not gotten mastitis again! Was it because of my aforementioned regimen, or the nursing pads, or both? I have no idea, but I'm sure glad I've not had to endure that again!

Disclaimer: I was given 2 pair of Bamboobies, a pair of Regular and a pair of Overnight, to review. All opinions are my own. You may have a different experience.
