Newborn Series: TotsBots TiniFits

*Note: This style of the Tinifit is no longer made, however the newer versions come with either a minky inner or their newest version of Binky (a combination of minky and bamboo) The fit is the same.

A little bit about the Tinifit Diaper:
-AIO diaper with an attached insert
-Fits babies approx 6-14 pounds
-Super strong velcro
-New version has the soft minky insert, older styles (like the one pictured in this post) have a bamboo/microfiber insert attached.

The Totsbots TiniFit diapers retail for $18.95.

The Totsbots Tinifit diapers are probably one of my favorites to look at. They are so simple and cute plus they are an AIO diaper (so easy for any mom or dad with a new baby at home) and its closure system is aplix (velcro) which again is great for a quick diaper change and very daddy and grandparent friendly.
I was lucky enough to get my hands on a Tinifit diaper in the TuttiFruitti print which is really hard to do in the states as only solid colors are sold over here. This is a favorite print of mine as well. The shape of the diaper is nice and simple and has elastic across the back. There are no rise snaps as this is a NB diaper intended for the little babys. The inside of my Tinifit diapers feature the bamboo/microfiber inserts that are sewn in. The new version of the Tinifit (and Easyfit) diapers will feature the soft minky insert which is able to hold about 20% more fluid. These Tinifits also have nice strong laundry tabs.

Above you can see the Tinifit with the sewn in soaker all the way open. This helps with reducing the amount of time needed for drying and its easy to tuck back in after doing laundry or before putting on baby.
Above you will see a size comparison of the OS Easyfit diaper next to the Newborn Tinifit diaper. The Tinifit is on the right side, then red is the smallest setting on the easyfit, Blue is middle setting and Star burst is on the largest size setting. There is a nice steady flow between the sizes and no huge jumps from one to the next leaving you wondering if you will have leak issues while switching between sizes. Here is the tinifit on Micah. I love this diaper! It fit great just under the cord stump with out rubbing on it much. We did have a couple of times where it would rub and irritate the stump but other wise it was good to go.
Great comfortable fit around the legs with out any gaping or leak issues.
Here is a mad little Micah wearing his first cloth diaper. Needless to say he pooped in it after I took these pictures so we had to change him but oh well! It had a great fit on him at 8.6pounds right when we were getting ready to leave the hospital.

How does this diaper work for us?
We love it! The tinifit is the first diaper I reach for and if I don't see one I dig around to see if I can find one. It holds a good amount of pee which is handy because its one of my favorites for night time because it is very soft and comfortable. The aplix on the tinifits is so nice and strong and the elastic on the legs is tight yet stretchy enough to offer a good range of fit around the legs. We have not had any poo  explosions out of this diaper (Or any of our newborn cloth diapers) which is great. I don't think I have any complaints about this diaper except I wish it were a little cheaper. It drys nice and fast as well.

*Update: We still found this diaper to be the best diaper for us on our 4th son! It is a continued love with the bamboo tinifits. The minky worked alright but the bamboo seems to hold more. I am excited to see what the new binky version has in store!

Would you like to purchase a Newborn Tinifit diaper? If you are in the N. American region search for a retailer of Bummis products and more than likely they will carry these cute diapers. The Totsbots products (Easyfits/Tinifits) are a European made diaper and are distributed by the Bummis company in the N. American region. I have purchased most of my tinifits used but they are hard to come by. New they will cost out of pocket around $19.00.

Newborn Series: Grovia NB AIO

*NOTE: This style of the grovia newborn diaper is no longer in production. However you can still purchase it from some retailers with what they have left in stock as well as on various used diaper swap pages. I did get the chance to try out the new style newborn diaper and liked it even more! I hope to get a review up on it eventually!*

A Little About the Grovia AIO NB diaper:
-No stuffing or doublers
-Fits babies 5-12+ pounds
-Organic Cotton
-No cover required
-Quick dry design
-Snaps

The Grovia Newborn AIO diapers retail for $14.95 a piece.

I purchased a Grovia NB diaper (well a couple) to have on hand for when baby comes. Here is the Grovia NB in the cute mod print. This print is no longer being made but you can still find it at various retailers and online at used diaper swap groups. They did just recently introduce a new spring line of prints that is super cute as well.
The Grovia NB diaper has on rows of snaps across the waist. It also has the option of rise snaps. The rise gives 2 different options for rise height on the diaper which is nice if the baby still has the umbilical cord.
The diaper has elastic across the back. The edges are serged all the way around the diaper. I know some babies, when wearing a serged diaper, will get some irritation from the thread rubbing on their skin. We have not had issues with the surging causing irritation on Micah.
The inside of this diaper has a sewn in soaker that is loose on one end. This allows the soaker to dry much quicker. The inside is made with organic cotton. The new prints have a stay dry material on the inside to help keep baby more comfortable which is really nice.
Below is a picture of Micah weighing around 8.10 pounds (guesstimate) and he still has his cord stump. I did have a little bit of an issue with the top of the diaper rubbing on his cord causing it to bleed a little bit but nothing major. Other than that this diaper has proven to be a great diaper to have in our stash! I also have the rise snapped down to the smallest setting on the diaper in the picture below.
I love how this diaper fits around the leg. The elastic is nice and tight to help get a nice fit but it is also nice and stretchy and doesn't leave any red marks on his legs.

How did this diaper work for us?
Overall this diaper has been great. I really love the rise snaps on this which allowed us to use the diaper earlier while Micah still had his cord. Even after the cord fell off we still kept the rise snapped down for a  little bit. Micah can now wear it snapped or unsnapped with out any issues. I really like the elastic around the legs for this diaper. They seem to offer a really comfortable leg opening which doesn't leave red marks on him. He does have skinner legs to (with no baby chub) but getting a nice snug fit around the legs is still really easy to accomplish. I think even if he had chubby thighs this diaper would offer a great fit around the legs. One thing I have found to be a pain with this diaper though is that it takes a while to dry. A lot longer than some of my other newborn diapers. This is not a huge issue but it would be nice if they all dried fast.

A Blooming Bath

Well, it's been a while since we've posted, and I'm sorry about that!  Three out of our five contributors have had babies in the last few months, and another one is due in a few weeks!!  So, we've all been a little busy :)  But, I thought I'd break the silence to share an awesome, fun product I was able to review--A Blooming Bath.
Some of you may have seen these before.  I'd seen pictures of them pop up on my facebook feed and things, but had never seen one in real life.  But they were so cute and intriguing, I always wondering exactly how they worked.  So, when they contacted us to do a review, I jumped at the chance!  They sent me a Blooming Bath in the canary yellow color (they also have turquoise, hot pink, green and ivory).  The yellow is so bright and vibrant-I love it!
The first thing I noticed about it was how soft and squishy it was.  Inside, it's a firm but soft foam and the outside is a silky, velvety fabric (and when it's wet, it actually gets ever softer!).  And I learned that the foam and fabric used in Blooming Baths are naturally antimicrobial and contain no chemicals!  I love that!  We try really hard to avoid unncessary toxins and chemicals around our kids, so this was a huge plus for using the Blooming Bath.
So, how do these things work?  Basically, you just put it in your sink, add the water and your baby, and bathe :)  I have to say, I was a little skeptical on whether or not it would really be worth it to use the Blooming Bath when you're using the sink to bathe little ones.  But, these things are awesome!!  They are so, so soft.  And warm!  Plus, there's no bending and leaning over the bathtub when you use your sink.  It's so much easier on your back.  With my first child, I always felt like the sink must be so cold and hard.  But with the Blooming Bath in there, it was so soft and cushy.  I'd love to take a bath in one :)
The other thing I love about it is that it fits pretty much any sink, and you can move it around to where your baby needs the support, since the petals move around.  It also keeps them from slipping around.  Wet babies are SO slippery!!  But when they're resting on the Blooming Bath, they don't slide around at all.  Even if you were using one of the mini tubs in your big bathtub, the babies still slide around in those, and they're so hard to hold onto!  With the Blooming Bath, they stay right where you put them...it's so much easier to wash them!
Another great advantage to using the Blooming Bath is that they fold back up to fit in the storage bag they come in--MUCH easier to store than one of the baby bathtubs!  You can also either air dry them (the tag can also be used as a drying hook) or they can go right into the dryer.  So easy!

Here's how the Blooming Bath fit in my kitchen sink....it goes down further into the sink once its filled with water.

I thought her first bath might look like this:

But literally, within seconds, she looked like this:

She seemed so comfy and cozy in there!

Overall, I absolutely love this product for sink bathing!  I felt like it made it safer to be bathing my little one in the sink--I didn't need to worry about her squirming around or hitting her head on the hard sink.  It's easy to store, easy to dry, and looks absolutely adorable.  What's not to love!  I also discovered that the idea for a Blooming Bath was from 4 dads, and that made me like it even more!
The only thing didn't love about it was that I had to clean the dishes out of my sink to use it :)
We love the Blooming Bath!!

A Blooming Bath is available at all buybuyBaby stores, Target.com, and many other boutiques across the country.  You can find a retailer here:  http://www.bloomingbath.com/dealer-locator. You can also order them online.

Cotton Booty

We all love a little surprise in our lives right? I was offered the chance to be sent a Cotton Booty package. This is a monthly subscription you subscribe to and have shipped directly to your house. You can choose to pay each month or you can buy a few months or more at a time and save money on the subscription. My October package I received in the mail contained a Kawaii Baby cloth diaper, a Angel Dear muslin swaddle blanket and a sample pack of a baby wash. The contents of the box always have a higher value than the cost of the box itself.

Another great feature about the Cotton Booty box is that is always contain a cloth diapering essential in it! This month was a Kawaii Baby Goodnight Heavy wetter OS pocket diaper. This retailers for around $13.00. Back in July the diaper was a Bumpkins OS cloth diaper in a super cute turtle print, a Bumpkins Dr Seuss print wet bag and a sample of Milky (a milk booster).

We were...well I know I was for sure...very excited to get the Angel Dear swaddle blanket in this package (retails for $16.00). Micah loves muslin for his blankets. If I hand him a fleece or flannel blanket he will stroke it to feel it and then pushes it away. My other boys were never this picky with their blankets. So Micah now has a new special blanket to snuggle with and the Owls on it are so adorable!

The sample that came in this package was Wash with Water, A Star is Born massage cream. We have not had the chance to use this but I have read great reviews about it.

The Cotton Booty subscription costs $24.99 a month and includes shipping. If you purchase multiple months at one time you can get the subscription for as low as $19.99 a month. The Cotton Booty box was created by Milk and Honey Kids.

If you are looking for a little something fun, a nice little surprise to arrive at your door each month you should check into the Cotton Booty box. I have done other subscriptions and they are neat but I love that this one always has something cloth diaper related in it!
