Imagine Stay-Dry All In One

Have you ever wished you could find an affordable All In One diaper that was nice and easy for Grandma's house or daycare? Well, I have good news: I have found a great, affordable AIO style diaper for you! I got the chance to try out the new Imagine One Size Stay-Dry All In One from Nicki's Diapers in the lovely Emerald color.

Imagine is a brand which is exclusive to Nicki's Diapers. They also have Imagine prefolds, covers, AI2s, and pockets. The Imagine All In One fits from 8 - 35 lbs due to its three rise settings. The picture below shows the diaper snapped to the smallest rise setting, and the next picture is the diaper fully opened to the largest rise setting. I received a stay dry AIO with a snap closure at the waist, but Imagine also has a bamboo option for those who prefer natural fibers, and both styles have Aplix closures available also. The really great thing about the Imagine brand is their affordability. If you need an AIO for Grandma's house or daycare but don't want to break the bank, at $13.95 this is it. I love the simplicity of this diaper. The snap-in insert is made of 4 layers of microfiber with a soft fleece topper that matches the fleece that lines the rest of the diaper. One unique feature of this diaper that I really like is that the insert snaps into the front rather than the back. This make unsnapping before throwing it in the wet bag a bit easier when dealing with dirty diapers!

We got a good fit on Ava with this diaper. At 25 pounds she needs the rise opened all the way up, but we still have a ways to go on the waist snaps. The leg elastic is encased in the soft fleece, so we didn't have any issues with red marks with this diaper.

This diaper is nice and trim, with a smooth fit across the back. I just love this green color!

Overall, we have really enjoyed this diaper. It gives us a great, trim fit but still had a lot of absorbency. We have not had any leaks with this diaper, and I really like that it is so simple to reassemble and use. This is definitely a diaper that goes in the diaper bag over to Grandma's house.

Blooming Bath

 It is amazing how different your children can be. My first two boys LOVED bath time. We just had a basic baby tub that we used to give them baths in but with our third son bath time is a struggle to say the least. He HATES having a bath whether its in the sink, baby tub, on the counter, any kind of bath he hates. So when I seen Blooming Bath I thought I would love to try it out and see if it helped my little guy over come his major dislike of baths. Blooming Bath sent me this super cute Yellow flower to try out with my little guy. Isn't it cute?

 The back of the flower is a mesh type of material so water can easily flow through it.

 The front of the flower is made with a super  soft minky material and the center has the minky dot which makes this look like a super cute sun flower.

 There is a tag on the back of the flower that has a lot of information on it. (Always keep hands on baby while using, washing instructions, and other great info to know while using it.) The tag can also conveniently be used as a way to hang up the flower to dry!

 Here is the Blooming Bath in our sink. If fits in there pretty good. We don't have a huge sink, just an average apartment size sink. I just layered the petals overlapping each other.

 After the baby is finished with the bath you can just pull all the petals toward the middle of the flower and then squish out the water. You will not be able to get all the water out so if you wanted you can either hang the flower up to dry or you can toss it in the dryer. 

 Here is our large doll modeling the blooming bath. This doll is about the size of a 4 month old. Its pretty big. I didn't want to take pictures of my little guy getting a bath so you get the picture of the doll. We did use Micah in the Blooming Bath in the sink and he did better than normal. He was still hesitant but didn't scream like normal. He fit in the Blooming Bath great as well. He is able to sit up very nice in it.

I then tried out the bathroom counter for our next Blooming Bath. Micah has really bad cradle cap so I was just doing a hair washing for this one which is why he has on his jammies still. While washing his hair with coconut oil and scrubbing, rubbing and stratching off his cradle cap Micah became very content and peaceful and fell asleep in less than 5 minutes. I can say that this was a huge huge surprise so I made my hubby get the camera and take some pictures. (Don't worry! It looks like I just left him on the counter but I was standing just outside of the picture by his feet holding on to his toes while we took the picture!)

We have also tried out the Blooming Bath in the big bath tub  which went okay. Micah's two big brothers were sitting on one end helping entertain him but he was still a little scared of the bath but he was way better than normal. He loved to reach down and feel the Blooming Bath. Its nice to have the warm, soft flower for him to sit on rather than the cold tub, sink or counter (even with a towel under him its still not very comfortable).

Mama Rose's Naturals

Mama Rose's Naturals is a wonderful mama-created line of products made here in Oregon. I got to review a sample of Mama Rose's Sunshine Spray and Magic Touch Baby Balm which are shown below. These are just two of Mama Rose's large line of family health products. I was so impressed with how these two items served us, I am excited to try more!

 The Sunshine Spray is an incredibly versatile product and a full list of uses can be read here. I was looking forward to using it as a spray for dirty baby bums. It's wonderful as a wipes spray because it is light, refreshing and leaves no residue on the baby. The scent is mild and the spray is generous. I continued to use the spray for crazy baby hair, dirty face and dirty hands cleanser. It must be the rose water or lavender that makes me relax and savor the scent when ever it is used.

 The Magic Touch baby balm is a wonderfully smooth salve that can be a treat for the baby and parent. As you spread it over your baby's skin, your hands soak up the moisture as well. Moisture that is much needed this time of year. It's good for eczema, chapped skin, diaper rash and cracked hands. I sometimes get cracks around my nails this time of year. It is so painful to work around the house with broken skin and the Magic Touch baby balm was a much needed relief from my chronic dry skin. The first night I used it, I but a generous amount on my finger, wrapped in a bandaid to keep it from getting wiped off, and left on all night. In the morning, my finger with the split skin didn't hurt anymore and the damaged skin had started to repair itself already! I have been so pleased with the wholesome approaches that Mama Rose's Naturals provides to Life's real, relentless problems.

Our Week with Disposables

Well, as the title says, we've been using disposables for the last week or so.  My son had a diaper rash that just wouldn't go away!  After looking up some info online, I'm pretty sure it was a yeast infection.  I'm not positive how he got it, and not even positive that's what it was, but after doing some research, it seemed like the best way to beat a yeast infection was to use disposables until it was cleared up.  Sooo, after bleaching my diapers to get rid of the yeast (which was quite painful for me to do), we resorted to using disposables until his little bum was cleared up.  And yes, I know there are other ways to get rid of yeast, but bleach is the only thing that will for sure kill yeast, and I didn't want to have the rash continue to come back if other things didn't work.

So...our week with disposables.  You know it's funny, I always hear people say that cloth diapers are gross, what do you do with the poop, doesn't it gross you out, etc.  But I have to say, using disposables kind of grossed me out.
First of all, they smelled weird!!  I don't really notice a smell with our cloth diapers (unless, obviously, there's poop).  But I did consistently notice a smell with the disposable diapers, even if he had only peed.  Yuck.
Also, they felt gross!  One "downfall" of cloth diapers is that you often can't tell when babies have gone in them; even having used cloth diapers for 20 months, I still sometimes can't tell if Myles is wet or not.  But in a disposable diaper, you can tell because it gets really squishy and mushy.  This kind of weirded me out!  I'm sure if I was used to it, it wouldn't be a big deal, but having a big squishy diaper on Myles was kind of gross.
One other problem we had with disposables is that Myles' clothes don't fit!!  He's pretty skinny to begin with, but in disposables, his pants literally kept falling down!  I had to use a safety pin a few times to keep his pants up :)  So if we used disposables all the time, I think we'd have to invest in a few child-size belts to keep his pants on!!
The other thing I couldn't believe was how. much. garbage. they created!!  In only a week, I had two grocery-size bags full of diapers.  It was insane!!  I just kept thinking of how many diapers are in landfills if this is how much garbage one child is making in a week.  Crazy!

Now, all of this to say, I AM glad that I was able to use disposables!  The thought of having to continue trying different things to get rid of yeast in my diapers, all while using them and passing the yeast on, just sounded like way too much work.  So I am glad that I have disposables to fall back on when something like this happens.  Or even while traveling.  BUT, I am SO glad to have my little guy's bum back in his nice, fluffy, good smelling diapers :)
