Charlie Banana

I have been cloth diapering for two years now and I have never tried a Charlie Banana diaper until now. I am honestly not sure why as I have seen them around on swap groups and in various cloth diapering stores. They have incredibly cute prints and I have always liked what I had seen.

I was sent this OS diaper in their "Kate" print. They also have a "William" print and they are both part of their Fashion Collection.

Isn't this adorable? It is a one size pocket diaper. If you noticed there are no snaps on the rise to make it a one size, you were right. They have a unique feature which allows the rise to be adjusted through the inside leg elastic. I wasn't sure how I'd like that but it was really easy to do!

I love this print!

When you get a brand new Charlie Banana diaper, you'll get two microfiber inserts. One is a newborn size which is smaller and a toddler size which is larger. You can use one or both depending on your babies wetting needs.

Here is the inside of the diaper. It has the pocket opening at the front (or belly) part of the diaper.

The opening is wide enough for Dad to help stuff the insert in as well! It also has a nice size flap that covers the opening to prevent the microfiber from touching baby's skin.

The adjustable strap reminded me of a bra strap adjuster. It was really easy to use and there were several different size adjustments to fit what your baby would need. There were 3 levels for each size S, M and L and one for XS.

When I tightened it to the XS, it didn't feel like the elastic was being over pulled. It still felt like it was not over stretched and would last a long time.

To adjust these was quick and very simple. It was easy to find the elastic, adjust it and then put it back. All of it lay flat in the diaper and did not create any sort of bulk.

There is a full row of snaps along the waist/belly area and then another row of snaps that encircle the leg. I find that this is great for preventing wing droop. You can get the perfect fit but snapping where you need. (Think tiny waist and chubby thighs)

We were able to get a good snug fit with the Charlie Banana diaper.

It is small enough to fit in the wetzone without being too bulky.

There is a crossover snap for when you use the smaller rise settings. This would work great for a newborn or smaller baby. (I'll let you know in November how it works on tiny ones!)

The elastic around the leg fit just right at the setting we had it at. It was not to tight but snug enough to keep it from leaking.

The diaper was super trim!

Overall, we loved this diaper! I cannot believe we waited so long to try one out! I was a little nervous at first about the elastic adjustment for the rise but you don't have to change it that often and I have had diapers in the past that have the rise snaps pop open often! You'll never have that problem with this one!

Charlie Banana also offers diapers in specific sizes and several prints and colors. They also have a line of wetbags, mama cloth, swim diapers, nursing pads and laundry detergent as well.

If you are a little leery of buying online or are new to cloth and want to see them in person, head to your local Target store! Target now carries an entire line of Charlie Banana diapers! We love Charlie Banana for breaking into mainstream stores to show the world about cloth!

Is there a diaper that you have been curious about but haven't tried it yet? Let me know in the comments!

GreenChild Creations

I'd like to introduce you to GreenChild Creations. I actually found them on Etsy at first and loved the uniqueness of them. I was sent a OS Flannel Fitted Pocket. If you have no idea what that is...that is ok! I will fill you in and probably get you hooked on them.

Here is the diaper that I was sent. It is a one size which means it can fit from birth to potty training. It is made out of flannel and has a pocket opening to fit an insert into. A fitted is a diaper that does not have any waterproofing built into it and you'll need a cover of some sort to keep everything dry.

I love this print. My husband is a firefighter so it quickly became one that we used often because of the print.

Here is the inside and part of what makes this diaper so unique. She makes them without snaps so that you can get the custom fit for your baby. The long part on the bottom of the picture folds up to the rise that you need as well and will sit at the belly.

This is the pocket opening to fit in any type of insert that you like. It is big enough to fit a microfiber insert, a smaller prefold or two hemp. These are what we tried. I am sure you could get more in to meet the needs of your little one for wetness. If you have a newborn or a smaller baby, you may not need to even add an insert because the diaper itself will absorb some as well.

Here is how I folded the rise. I started with a small part...(about 3 inches)

And then folded that one more time.

Here is what it looked liked once it was all folded up. I personally am not a huge fan of pins but these worked really well with what we needed for a waist adjustment.

Starting to get it on.

It was a little tricky with a wiggly baby but easy enough to get the fit you need.

We got a good snug fit around the legs and belly.

Because there is elastic around the leg area, you wont have any leakage or explosions!

Overall we really liked this diaper. It had so many options for absorbency and rise/waist adjustments that it truly is a one size diaper. My husband loved the print but hated that it had pins. I didn't mind them but I think you could easily use a Snappi or Boingo on it as well. We used a Bummis cover and that worked well for us for on top. The only bummer was that you couldn't see the cute print! After several washes, the print did fade as it is flannel but it became much softer than when I first got it.

GreenChild Creations also offers homemade soaps, salves and even butt cream! You'll find several different prints on her Etsy page and her Facebook page

GreenChild Creations is also offering THIS OS Flannel Fitted Pocket to one lucky reader!
I love this print too! Just fill out the Rafflecoptor form by midnight June 6th. Entries will be double checked and winner will be announced Monday!

Make sure to read the entries carefully!

GroVia Kiwi Pie Fitted Diaper

I was given the opportunity to review the new GroVia Kiwi Pie Fitted diaper today. These are a new addition to the GroVia line, and are American made! These fitteds have an adorable cotton fabric on the outside and the inside is a blend of micro-modal and pima cotton.

Micro-modal fabric is a great sustainable fabric option which is made from beech trees and is fifty percent more absorbent than cotton! It also stays softer longer due to it's resistance to hard water mineral deposits. We have very hard water at our house and I can already tell that this diaper is staying nice and soft despite that!

Like all fitteds, the GroVia Kiwi Pie does shrink a bit after prepping, but I found that the shrinkage was very minimal compared to other diapers I have prepped.

The GroVia Kiwi Pie is a one size fitted and has one set of rise snaps. These fitteds are sized from 10 - 30 pounds, and I definitely think that this would have fit Ava great when she was a newborn.

The rise snaps are offset slightly from each other, which helps to reduce bulk. I really like this feature as I think it gives a nicer front look when the rise is snapped down.

Each GroVia Kiwi Pie comes with two four-layer inserts that simply lay inside the diaper. Most fitteds I have tried snap into the diaper, so I was surprised that these were lay-in soakers. I think it gives a nice clean look to the outside of the diaper though, with no snaps on the outside.

I really love that the soakers each have the cute print on the back of them! This is a great feature if you have multiple Kiwi Pies and want to ensure that the correct soaker stays with the correct diaper.

The two soakers snap together on one end, which helps keep them from moving around too much. This is where my only complaint with the diaper came in. I found the snaps here to be very "soft," meaning that they didn't click together nicely and they didn't hold very strongly. It's not a huge issue with this diaper since it really doesn't affect function, and it could be just this particular diaper too.

I found the fit to be really nice on Ava. You can see that we got a really trim fit between the legs. I love the ruffly look of a serged diaper, and the only bummer is that I have to hide the cute pattern under a cover!

This side view shows how trim this fitted is! This is with both soakers inside; for a smaller baby with the rise snapped down you could easily just use one soaker to get a nice trim fit.

The snap layout is just like my GroVia shells and we got a really similar fit to what we get with those. I love when diapers fit nice and smooth in the front like this.

Here is the fitted with my GroVia owls snap shell over it. Typically when I use the GroVia soakers I have the shell on the middle rise setting, but the fitted is a little bulkier so I opened the rise all the way up to fit over it.

I did struggle a little to get the sides of the fitted completely covered by the shell. You can see here the Kiwi Pie peeking out a tiny bit. It seemed to me that the Kiwi Pie was just a touch wider than the shell here so it was a little tricky to get it all to go under the shell. I have not had any wicking though so my cover job holds up!

Overall we have really enjoyed this fitted. Ava is a super wetter at night, and this fitted worked well with just a little extra absorbency added. For a medium to normal wetter at night you probably just need this fitted by itself. (For comparison, we usually use an angel-folded baby sized prefold with an infant sized prefold tri-folded as an insert, and both of those are soaked by morning!) For day time use, I can get a really long time out of this fitted, so it is one that I reach for if I am going out for a while and don't want to worry about leaks!

GroVia Kiwi Pie fitteds retail at $27.00 and come in six adorable prints! Considering the fantastic fabrics, print choices, absorbency, and the fact that these are made in the USA the price is totally worth it to me. I highly recommend these fitteds!

O-Dee-O Designs

Next up today is O-Dee-O Designs. Katie is a mama of three boys, and is the mama behind O-Dee-O Designs. I found O-Dee-O Designs through Facebook and just loved the cute fleece covers she makes, and I was excited to have the chance to review one of them for Cloth Diaper Addiction. I asked Katie to share a little about herself, how she got started making diapers, and what products she offers.

With the birth of my youngest son, I entered the world of cloth diapering. I have fallen in love with using cloth and have been finding ways to be "greener" and more earth friendly. I want to spread this love with other moms and dads and so I began sewing in May 2012 and decided to open O-Dee-O Designs in June. I make PUL pockets and covers, woven outer pockets and covers, upcycled T-shirt diapers, and of course the fleece covers and pockets. I also make accessories like wipes, wet bags, and taggie blankets. My favorite item to make is the upcycled T-Shirt diapers. They allow me to be very creative! But a close second is anything to do with fleece!

Katie let me choose the fleece print for the cover that she made me, and I picked out this cute hedgehog print. Her fleece covers have two layers of fleece, with an extra soaker layer sewn down the middle. The cover that I received is a one size cover and has cross over snaps on both flaps. I really like when one size diapers have the cross over snaps on both sides because then I don't have to remember to start with one side every time!

The cover has nice wide leg elastic and back elastic that are completely encased in the fleece. We have not had any red marks with this diaper at all! This picture above shows the diaper on the smallest rise settings.

A close up of the cute hedgehog print! Katie has really great prints to choose from on her Facebook page. It was a hard decision to narrow it down to one print!

A close up of Katie's adorable labels! The label has held up great through a bunch of washings too.

This picture shows the diaper all the way open with the largest rise. It is a great, roomy cover and will definitely fit Ava for a long time.

Here is the inside, where you can see that there is a third soaker layer in the wet zone. This has been so great for us to have in a cover. We have had zero leaks while using this cover!

Here is the diaper opened up. You can see that there are two sets of rise snaps, giving three rise size options. For Ava (24 lbs and 30 inches) we have been using this all the way opened up because we use bulky fitteds for night time.

Here is a rear view on the bum. This cover has given us a great trim fit and I love how Katie took the time to center one of the hedgehogs on the back. It's just so cute!

Ava was a little too busy with her toys to let me get much of a side shot, but you can see that with an average sized fitted underneath this cover has a nice trim fit!

This front view of the cover was about as good as I could get with a wiggly toddler! Ava has a very skinny waist so we have the flaps of the cover meeting in the middle and we get a great fit that way.

Overall, this has been a great addition to our cover stash, and I have really liked using it for night time and nap times. We haven't had any leaks and the breathable aspect of the fleece has really helped with Ava's occasional teething related diaper rash. Katie was so great to work with and I highly recommend her covers!

Katie has offered to give away a custom fleece cover to one of our readers! She has a fantastic selection of fleece and our winner will have a great time choosing a print for their baby.

Dipper Whipperz

Dipper Whipperz

Dipper Whipperz is a company started by a mama named Leila. She creates several beautiful diapers and training pants. All of her diapers are made with love and dedication to her work. Here is a quote that is on her facebook page that I love for work at home mamas!

"When you buy from a WAHM (work at home mom) you are buying her time, her frustration, her love, her hard work. You aren't supporting a big box company, you aren't paying for a frivolious vacation or some rich businessman's 3rd or 4th car, you're supporting the hopes and dreams of a hard working momma trying to save for the future, pay for the present, maybe even just put some food on the table. Thanks for taking some time and saving up your pennies to buy something, even if it was a tiny something from this WAHM ♥"

Here is the diaper that Dipper Whipperz sent to me. It is a hybrid fitted with a fold down rise. I absolutely love the colors and print! My favorite color is orange so I love that the inside is orange!

This is the koi fish print.

Inner beauty...

Comes with an insert than can be unsnapped.

Inner without any inserts. This diaper is so absorbent that you could easily use no inserts if you have a light wetter.

Leg inners. Nice and soft with a wide area for elastic. No red marks!

The tummy front with snaps. The snaps are a little unique if you are not familiar with a fold down rise. The next few pictures will show you how to do it. It is how it is a one size diaper.

Fold the front completely over to show the opposite side of snaps(on the inside).

Snap the wings as usual and you are ready to go!

This diaper is super absorbent but it is really trim!

Just so pretty.

Something I am starting to love is WAHM labels. Each one is unique and helps to distinguish themselves. Here is Dipper Whipperz. I love the I's!

So...Kynlie was not in the mood for pics while she was wearing her "fishy" diaper.

Fruit snacks became a bribe.

There is a good fit between the legs. It seemed a little bulky at first but she was able to get around with out it bothering her.

Good fit at the bum and legs. We had no leaks at all with this diaper!

Kynlie started to get into taking pictures. Bum Shot!

Silly Girl!

After a bit of wearing it, it seemed funky in the crotch zone but I think she was pulling on it a little.

Ta-Da!

Close up of this cuteness!

We use this diaper mainly as our night time diaper because it is so amazing and holds so much. Because it is a fitted, you typically need a cover with it. During the day, however, we don't use one because it breathes so well. Once you notice a dampness, you just change her. For night time we use a Bummis Super Whisper Wrap over it and it fits well. We have not had a single leak with this diaper and we have tried it with no insert, the snap in insert and the booster. All amazing! If you have a super night wetter, this would be your solution!
