Color Clothespin Game

This handful of items helped create a super fun game for my boys and was nearly free to make (and could even be free for you!) This idea had been on my to-do list for a long time and when I needed to get some pots last weekend, I decided to get the items to make it.

Items Needed:
Scissors
Clothespins (that probably shouldn't be used for drying clothes...or diapers) ;)
Glue (I used Elmer's, but a hot glue gun will work too)
Paint sample cards from your local hardware store
Take the clothespin and lay it along a side of the paint sample card.

Cut. I liked to make mine a bit wider and longer than the clothespin.

Here is the clothespin and cut out sample card.

Add a dab of glue to the clothespin.

And lay the cut out sample along the glue.

I was making 2 games (one for my toddler and one for my preschooler), so I was pulling double duty. I laid the clothespin sample-side down to dry...
And had a bit of hubby's left over birthday cake while I waited for them to dry...ahem.

And viola!

Do this for all the cards you have samples for.

Then it's game time!

For starters, I let the boys simply match the cards to clothes pins.

We also did a version where it was like Memory. I placed all the sample cards color side down, as well as the clothespins. Then had the boys pick a clothespin and then try to find the matching sample card.

We also tried a version of Go Fish, but mommy's brain wasn't working right, so we went back to Memory ;)

The boys LOVE this game. I'm going to work on making a cute bag to contain the pieces and probably make these for friends' birthday parties. Super cute. Inexpensive. Not messy. Winner! :)
